Whether we grew up in the late 1950's or early 1960's or not, we had the show Happy Days to remind us of life and times of the 'sock hop' years and Fonzie's thumbs up. It was trendy to wear letter charms and call people, "Mr. and Mrs. C." Now, the trend to use initials on jewelry is back.
Single letter necklaces are quite popular or you can combine them to spell out meaningful words for a bracelet, like: Football Mom. We stock large and small letter charms for projects for special occasions as well - like breast cancer charms.
TwoPurplePandas has a large selection of charm bracelet charms for sports and our football charms are a popular item. From Texas Longhorns silver-plated hand enameled pieces to our hand painted resin football helmets, we have something for the fan (or fanatic.)
The first Super Bowl game was between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs, on January 15, 1967. It was the only Super Bowl on record to not be sold out. As the story goes, Max McGee was a Green Bay player who knew he would never play in the game, as he was strictly a back-up player. He'd stayed up way past Coach Vince Lombardi's curfew and was sitting on the bench when suddenly a player had become injured.
A few minutes later, McGee was making history as he caught a pass from Bart Starr and made a 37-yard touchdown. A lot has changed since that first Super Bowl. Back then, tickets would cost about 12 dollars. Today, you can expect to pay 500 dollars for a ticket. You'll find our football charms more in keeping with the good old days. Plus, as with most of our charms you can save by buying in quantities.
Fun fact: It takes 3000 cows to make the leather needed for a year's supply of footballs for the NFL!
